Valheim Potions and Mead Guide

How Potions and Mead Work in Valheim

Consuming a Valheim Potion or Mead will, in most cases, result in a brief bonus being applied to you. These boosts may also come with cooldowns, which prohibit you from drinking a bunch of potions in the middle of a fight in order to mitigate the effects of taking damage.

Potions and Mead cannot be crafted directly; instead, a Mead Base must be cooked in a Cauldron in order to produce them, and then the Mead or Potion must be brewed in a Fermenter. You will also need the components necessary to make the Mead or Potion. Honey is particularly crucial because, as of the Mistlands Update, it is required for the creation of every potion and mead.

What You Need to Get Started Making Mead and Potions

Once you have satisfied the fundamental conditions, brewing Valheim Potions and Mead is a rather straightforward process. To get started, you are going to require Bronze, which means that you will have to vanquish Eikthyr in order to gain access to the Pickaxe. After that, you will have to make your way to the Black Forest Biome in order to acquire the Copper and Tin that are required for the production of Bronze. Check Out Valheim Complete Guide

After acquiring a Pickaxe and the necessary components, you will need to construct the items listed below:

  • 1 or more Beehives
  • Campfire
  • Cauldron
  • 1 or more Fermenters

Once you have that all together, you’re ready to start making Potions from your ingredients!

How to Make Valheim Potions and Mead

Once you’ve gotten the setup out of the way, brewing Valheim Mead and Potions is a breeze! The sole drawback is that it takes some time for the potions and the mead to mature in the fermenter; as a result, it is typically a good idea to construct many fermenters.

In Valheim, the following steps are required to manufacture potions and mead:

  1. Collect your Honey and other ingredients from their sources.
  2. Use the ingredients to Cook the appropriate Mead Base in a Cauldron.
  3. Place the Mead Base in a Fermenter and wait for it to be finished.
  4. Collect the finished Potion or Mead when it’s done.

Fermenters take a couple of days to complete the process, so don’t expect to get your Potions or Mead right away. Plan ahead!
