Bane of the Powerful Legendary Gem Diablo 3

In Diablo III, Bane of the Powerful is a Legendary Gem. It only drops from Greater Rift Guardians and maybe socketed into Amulets and Rings.

After defeating an Elite monster pack, it temporarily increases damage. Before the gem’s benefit takes effect, all of the adversaries in the pack must be eliminated. If a Rare Monster was included in the bundle, this also applies to Champion Minions. You lose the bonus if you pass away while it is active due to this gem. The duration is extended by upgrading.

This works nicely with Nemesis Bracers since they produce more elites to maintain the damage boost.

At level 25, it also provides a beneficial boost to damage against elites and a decrease in damage against elites.

Gem Properties

• Increase damage against enemies under control-impairing effects by 15%.
• Upgrade rank grants: +0.3% damage.
• Rank 25 unlocks:
  • Gain an aura that reduces the movement speed of enemies within 15 yards by 30%.

Lady Tu de Quing commissioned this gem from the workshops of Xiansai, saying
“I prefer my targets asleep or drunk. Barring that, I’ll take sluggish.”

Bane of the Powerful Mechanics

The player gains 20% multiplicative damage for 30 seconds after killing an Elite pack. In the case of Rare (Yellow) Elites, you also need to kill all the minions to receive this bonus. Rift Guardians, Act Bosses, Treasure Goblins, and unique purple Monsters also give you the buff when slain.

You can level this Legendary Gem up to rank 150. Every upgrade will increase the duration of the multiplicative damage buff by 1 second up to a maximum of 180 seconds. The secondary effect increases damage against Elites by 15%, which is additive to other Elite Damage sources like from The Furnace and multiplicative to base damage. Furthermore, the secondary effect reduces damage taken from Elites by 15%. This bonus is multiplicative to other Elite damage reduction sources like Blackthorne’s Battlegear (3) Bonus.

Offensive in speed farming
Most commonly used in speed farming content. This includes Greater Rift Keystone farming and lower tier speed Greater Rifts. This is the first Legendary Gem that drops in a fresh Season and is widely used in the beginning as it is very powerful even at low ranks.

If you need extra Legendary Gems to level up, you can make the Rift Guardian in any Greater Rift drop a new Rank 0 Gem by removing all the Legendary Gems with the same name from your Equipment, Inventory, and Stash.

The safest way to do that is to put them into the Inventory of different characters.
